225 Spencer

Despite valiant efforts, 225 Spencer Avenue met the wrecking ball this Spring.

While we were not able to save this particular property, SOS learned so much in the process and remains grateful to all who showed interest and lent support to our efforts. The loss of this bit of Marion’s story serves as an all too real reminder that once a building is gone, it’s gone forever.

I am sad to report that we were unable to save 225 Spencer Avenue from demolition. However, our mission is not in vain. We have raised awareness on the issue of preservation and saving our city’s history. The loss of this property makes our mission more important. Not only was this a beautiful, historic home, but also had significance because of it’s association with Samuel Plato. Please continue to monitor our mission and join us on July 25th for a State symposium on Samuel Plato. Watch for upcoming information!
